Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular Mechanisms of Symbiosis Lab, Poland

phd funding - Poland

Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular Mechanisms- The Molecular Mechanisms of Symbiosis Lab at the Institute of Environmental Sciences, Jagielonian University, Krakow, Poland is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on a S-year ERCStarting Grant Mechano-Wolbachia. The Lab is interested in discovering the molecular mechanisms of Wolbachia-conferred antiviral protection in host-microbe interactions.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Molecular Mechanisms of Symbiosis, Wolbachia-conferred antiviral protection in host-microbe interactions.

Location: Institute of Environmental Sciences, Jagielonian University, Krakow, Poland

Summary Table:

  • Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
  • Research Area: Molecular Mechanisms of Symbiosis, Wolbachia-conferred antiviral protection in host-microbe interactions.
  • Location: Institute of Environmental Sciences, Jagielonian University, Krakow, Poland

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Experience with Drosophila tissues and molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extractions, PCR, QPCR, western blot, cloning, NGS, fluorescence/confocal, and statistics.
  • Previous experience working with insects is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Job Description:

The Postdoctoral Researcher will be working closely with a PhD student to characterize the protection at the level of individual Drosophila tissues and determine the function of Wolbachia genes putatively involved in protection. The researcher will also be responsible for discerning the transcriptional regulation of Wolbachia-host interactions and the molecular mechanisms of protection.
