Postdoctoral Researcher in Nanoscale Materials: The Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) to join the Disch group for a two-year research project. The focus of the research is on the structure, magnetism, and dynamics in functional nanoscale materials, involving aspects of both soft and hard condensed matter. The successful candidate will conduct research in nanomagnetic materials and nanomagnetism, including scattering experiments at international large-scale research facilities.
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d)
Research Area: Nanoscale Materials and Nanomagnetism
Location: Campus Essen, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in Inorganic or Physical Chemistry, Condensed Matter Physics, or a related field.
- Background in one of the following areas is suitable:
- Advanced chemical synthesis of nanomagnetic materials.
- X-ray or neutron scattering techniques applied to nanoscale materials or colloids.
- In-situ/operando characterization using spectroscopic techniques.
- Experience in experiment design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation, as well as data management applying the FAIR principles.
- Professional communication skills in oral and written English.
- High degree of independence with the ability to collaborate effectively.
Job Description:
Postdoctoral Researcher in Nanoscale Materials and Nanomagnetism
The Postdoctoral Researcher will engage in research activities related to the structure, magnetism, and dynamics in functional nanoscale materials. The project includes scattering experiments at international large-scale research facilities. Collaboration opportunities with the magnetic phenomena research community in the Ruhr region are encouraged, with access to facilities such as the Center for Nanointegration in Duisburg-Essen (CENIDE) and the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center TRR 270.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit the following documents in a single PDF file to sabrina.disch@uni-due.de with the subject line “Postdoc application at UDE” and quoting the reference number 830-23:
- Cover letter describing motivation and fit with long-term goals.
- CV including relevant hands-on experience and a list of publications.
- Contact details of at least two references familiar with your work.
