Eligibility/Qualification:
- Doctoral degree in life sciences or chemistry (e.g., (chemical) biology, biochemistry, microbiology, bioinformatics) or related discipline
- Experience in natural product isolation/characterization or natural product bioinformatics (genome mining, metagenomics)
- Experience working with plants is advantageous
- Experience in high-resolution mass spectrometry and metabolomics is a plus
- Data analysis and (Python) programming skills are beneficial
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
- Well-developed collaborative skills
Job Description:
The successful candidate will join the junior research group to investigate the natural products, particularly of bacterial or fungal origin, in the moss microbiome. The role will involve collecting bacterial strains from mosses, using bioinformatics to identify novel biosynthetic gene clusters, characterizing promising gene clusters experimentally to isolate corresponding natural products, and determining their activities.
