Postdoctoral Researcher in Organic Chemistry: The University of Copenhagen’s Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, is seeking applicants for a one-year Postdoc position in Organic Chemistry. This position is part of the research project “CO2 Capture using new organic materials,” funded by Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Research Center (CORC), and will be conducted within the group led by Associate Professor Jiwoong Lee.
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Organic Chemistry, with a focus on CO2 capture using non-conventional organic materials
Location: Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen, Denmark
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in Chemistry or equivalent
- Strong background in organic chemistry, particularly polymer chemistry
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Minimum of 5-6 years of laboratory experience
- Experience in CO2 research preferred
- Expertise in experimental techniques such as GPC, NMR, solid state NMR, TGA, DSC, and gas sorption
- Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Willingness to participate in teaching duties
Job Description: The selected candidate will:
- Design, synthesize, and evaluate organic materials for CO2 capture
- Investigate strategies such as degradation and modification of waste plastic to produce efficient CO2 absorbents and adsorbents
- Contribute to research projects with real-world applications in CO2 capture and conversion reactions
- Participate in group meetings, seminars, and research activities
- Assist in guiding students and contributing to lab activities and outreach programs
- Fulfill teaching duties as required
