Eligibility/Qualification:
- A doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a Swedish doctoral degree
- Extensive experience in forward and reverse genetic screens, CRISPRi, molecular cloning, basic biochemistry, and phage recombineering
- Proficiency in virology/phage biology techniques
- Knowledge of Python/R/bash/Unix is meritorious
- Prior experience with Mycobacteria and Pseudomonas is an advantage
- Hands-on experience in proteomics sample preparation or data analysis is a plus
Job Description:
As a member of the Fossati lab, you will play a pivotal role in augmenting phage efficacy using genetic engineering. Key responsibilities include:
- Applying and developing novel genetic screenings (based on CRISPRi) to characterize phage genes influencing clinical efficacy against bacterial pathogens
- Utilizing interaction proteomics to characterize phage genes in their molecular context
- Engineering ‘super-phages’ displaying increased efficacy against clinical isolates
- Taking a prominent role in project design and management, overseeing data generation, conducting analyses, and providing insightful interpretations
- Collaborating with team members, other groups at KI/SciLifeLab, and local/international research collectives
- Disseminating scientific findings through research papers, participation in scientific conferences, and effective communication with colleagues
