Postdoctoral Researcher in Photoswitchable Molecules, Utrecht University, Netherlands

Postdoc in Netherlands

Postdoctoral Researcher in Photoswitchable Molecules: Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral position (1+1 years) in the Organic Chemistry and Catalysis (OCC) group at Utrecht University. The project, led by Dr. Daniél Broere, focuses on developing new molecular photoswitches as part of an international consortium funded by the Human Frontiers Science Program.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Development of new photoswitchable molecules for optochemical control in microglia.

Location: Utrecht University, Utrecht, Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification: Successful applicants must hold a PhD degree in Chemistry with a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry. Due to funding restrictions, only applicants from EEA countries are eligible. Experience in computational chemistry, photochemistry, coordination chemistry, or biochemistry is desirable. Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team are essential. Proficiency in English, both oral and written, is required.

Job Description: The project involves developing new photoswitchable molecules that can be incorporated into larger biomolecules for light activation within the bio-optical transparency window. Key activities include organic synthesis, molecular design, photochemical characterization, NMR spectroscopy, and computational chemistry. The position entails close collaboration with international partners, including exchange visits, primarily with Prof. Kathrin Leppek’s group at Uni Bonn.

How to Apply: Motivated candidates are requested to submit their application, which should include a letter of motivation, CV, references, and a list of publications, to Dr. Daniél Broere via email at d.broere@uu.nl. Please ensure all documents are combined into a single PDF file.
