Postdoctoral Researcher in Physical Chemistry: Lund University’s Department of Chemistry is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team focused on the study of soft matter within the field of physical chemistry. This position offers an opportunity to conduct innovative research in understanding the flow properties of compressible colloids and microgels, contributing to advancements in various applications, including biomedical fields and consumer products.
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area:
Physical Chemistry, Soft Matter, Colloid and Interface Science, Bulk Rheology, Small-Angle Scattering Techniques
Location: Lund University, Lund, Sweden
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree within the relevant field (Physical Chemistry or related discipline), received no more than three years prior to the employment decision date. Under special circumstances, a PhD acquired earlier may be considered.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
- Proven knowledge and experience in bulk rheology.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will:
- Investigate the role of the softness of individual colloids in structuring and rheological properties of suspensions under flow.
- Study microgel suspensions using small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering to explore particle arrangements and the shape of individual colloids.
- Optimize and implement shear cells for small-angle scattering in flow and high shear applied conditions (>10^4 s^-1) while enabling simultaneous polarized microscopy, rheology, and SAS experiments.
- Identify key parameters influencing the flow properties of colloidal particles and the role of particle softness in formation processes.
- Engage with interdisciplinary research and contribute to the development of soft colloids for applications in biomedicine, emulsions for cosmetics, detergents, and shampoos.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates should prepare their applications in English and compile them into a single PDF file, which includes:
- CV highlighting the three most relevant publications and the applicant’s role in them.
- A general description of previous research and future research interests (maximum two pages).
- Contact details for at least two references.
- A copy of the PhD degree certificate and any other relevant transcripts or certificates.
Applications should be sent via the university’s job portal by the last date for application.
