Description:
Postdoctoral Researcher in Plant Protein Biochemistry/Proteomics
The University of Birmingham is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for the BBSRC-funded project “MEIAD.” Collaborating with another postdoctoral researcher, this project aims to investigate the regulation of crossovers (CO) determination and homologous recombination during plant meiosis. You will functionally characterize key proteolytic components, identify degradation targets, define their activity, and investigate how manipulation of MEIAD modulates meiosis. This research will enhance our understanding of genetic inheritance in plants, with potential applications in economically important crops.
Eligibility: The ideal candidate should possess:
- A PhD in Molecular Plant Biology and/or Protein Biochemistry.
- Demonstrated experience working with proteins (e.g., Western blotting, immunoprecipitation).
- Familiarity with Arabidopsis, post-translational protein modification, and mass spectrometry-based proteomics is desirable.
- Strong writing skills, demonstrated through previous high-quality publications.
This position is for up to 3 years.
Working Environment: The researcher will be part of the Plant Science & Food Security theme within the School of Biosciences at the University of Birmingham. With over 60 research groups, the School of Biosciences offers a dynamic research environment. The candidate will also have the opportunity to assist with the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
How to Apply: Formal applications can be submitted using the provided link: Application Link. For informal inquiries, contact Daniel Gibbs (email provided in the text).
Last Date: The application deadline is October 22, 2023. Don’t miss this opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in plant protein biochemistry and proteomics at the University of Birmingham.
