Eligibility / Qualification:
Required:
- PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field (before start date)
- Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++
- Experience in GPU programming
- Application performance profiling
- Excellent written and spoken English
Desirable:
- Experience in quantum computing
- Familiarity with FPGA development
- Knowledge of high-performance computing systems and simulation trade-offs
Job Description:
You will:
- Develop high-performance, realistic simulation algorithms for noisy quantum circuits.
- Perform low-level code optimization using SIMD, GPU, or FPGA hardware.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicists and engineers.
- Contribute to simulation frameworks for a 25-qubit chip, aligned with Sweden’s national quantum computer project.
- Potentially supervise master’s and PhD students in related research topics.
Project and Environment:
This postdoc position is part of the QuantumStack project, funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research and integrated with Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT). The long-term goal is to build a 100-qubit superconducting quantum computer capable of solving problems beyond the reach of classical systems.
The work will be conducted in the Division of Computer Networks and Systems at Chalmers. The department has strong ties to leading European HPC initiatives and offers an inspiring, international research environment.
