Postdoctoral Researcher in Reinforcement Learning: The ODI group at the Institute of Machine Learning is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers with expertise in reinforcement learning (RL). Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in Computer Science or related field
- Solid foundation in reinforcement learning
- Proven research experience with first-authored publications in peer-reviewed conferences (ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, CoRL, ICRA, AAAI, AAMAS, or similar)
- Collaborative mindset for effective teamwork
- (Optional) Experience with large-scale machine learning codebases
Job Description:
The candidate will focus on broad themes in reinforcement learning, including but not limited to:
- Theory of online learning and data-driven control
- Learning in games and multi-agent RL
- Reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF) and alignment in large language models (LLMs)
- Representation learning in RL
- Transfer learning in multi-task bandits and RL
- Statistical or generative decision making
The project scope will be tailored to the candidate’s strengths and expertise. The candidate is expected to collaborate closely with the research supervisor and team members, and assist in mentoring Master’s or Bachelor’s thesis projects.
