Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position at USA, Ozbolat Laboratory at Penn State

Postdoctoral Researcher in Single-Cell Genomics: The University of Helsinki, through the NORPOD program, seeks a computational Postdoctoral Researcher to investigate the impact of chromatin-modifying gene mutations on early neurodevelopment. This collaborative project aims to uncover shared regulatory disruptions across neurodevelopmental disorders using advanced single-cell and spatial profiling techniques.

Designation:

Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area:

Single-Cell Genomics, Computational Biology, Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Location:

Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM), University of Helsinki, Finland

  • Completed doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Documented publication record considered a significant merit.
  • Scientific competence in computational biology with excellent programming and high-performance computing skills.
  • Experience in functional genomics, transcriptomics, bioinformatics, bioimage analysis, and/or single-cell genomics.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Analyzing data collected from developing neurons in vitro, including single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, high-content imaging, and smFISH.
  • Integrating multimodal single-cell and spatial data.
  • Inferring gene regulatory networks, developmental trajectories, and cell-state dynamics.
  • Supervising students and staff in experimental design and data analysis.
  • Writing research articles and funding applications.

The position involves collaboration with the Kilpinen group (FIMM) and the Kim group at DANDRITE, Aarhus University, including short research visits between the institutions.
