PhD Fellowship IN Switzerland

Postdoctoral Researcher in Soil Biogeochemistry: The Soil Biogeochemistry group at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join their team. The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research on the dynamics of microbe-mineral-organic matter interactions in the rhizosphere and their vulnerability to climate change.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher (1ER Assistant.e)

Research Area: Soil Biogeochemistry

Location: Institute of Earth Surface Dynamics (IDYST), Faculty of Geosciences and Environment (FGSE), University of Lausanne, Switzerland

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Excellent PhD in biogeosciences, geochemistry, microbiology, or a related field
  • Strong background in biogeochemical processes within soils, particularly plant-microbe-mineral interactions
  • Prior experience with spectroscopic, microscopic, and mass spectrometry tools to characterize minerals and organic matter
  • Familiarity with experiments in plant and soil sciences, basic wet chemical lab procedures and analyses, and data analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; working knowledge of French is preferable

Job Description:

  • Develop and lead independent research on the dynamics of microbe-mineral-organic matter interactions in the rhizosphere and their vulnerability to climate change
  • Utilize cutting-edge geochemical and molecular approaches, including stable isotope tracers, spectro/microscopic techniques, and microsensors
  • Work collaboratively within the Soil Biogeochemistry group and with an extensive network of international collaborators
