Eligibility/Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or equivalent in neuroscience, biology, bioengineering, or related fields, to be completed by the time the employment decision is made.
  • Extensive research expertise in the culture and differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC), along with a strong record of impactful publications.
  • Excellent collaborative abilities and independence, with skills in organization, creativity, and initiative.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
  • Specific expertise with iPSC-based models of the neurovascular unit or neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • Experience with research grant applications and/or teaching/supervision.
  • Awareness and focus on diversity and equal treatment issues, particularly regarding gender equality.

Job Description

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to design, conduct, analyze, and disseminate research focusing on the role of pericytes and oxidative/nitrosative stress in disrupted cellular signaling in schizophrenia. Key responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and refining models of neurovascular cells using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC).
  • Employing a variety of techniques such as imaging, qPCR, and metabolomics, while validating against clinical samples.
  • Presenting findings to the scientific community through publications and conferences.
  • Supervising junior students and contributing to research grant proposals.
  • Collaborating with engineers to develop microfluidic cell culture and analysis systems.
