Eligibility / Qualification

  • Education: Ph.D. in Life Sciences, Stem Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Track Record: Strong publication record in peer-reviewed international scientific journals.
  • Core Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience in mammalian stem cells, gene regulation, and molecular biology techniques.
  • Advantageous Skills / Prior Experience:
    • Mammalian cell culture & human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs)
    • Stem cell-based embryo models & early mammalian embryogenesis
    • Epigenetics and X-chromosome inactivation
    • High-resolution microscopy and RNA FISH
    • Single-cell genomics / transcriptomics / multi-omics and computational biology

Job Description & Responsibilities

Project Background

The researcher will be embedded in the Pasque lab (affiliated with the Leuven Single-Cell Omics Institute) and collaborate closely with external teams led by Dr. Claire Rougeulle (Curie Institute, France), Dr. Laurent David (University of Nantes, France), and Dr. Thierry Voet (KU Leuven). The project aims to unravel the gene regulatory networks underlying cell fate specification in extraembryonic lineages and epigenetic dynamics during early human post-implantation stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, culture, and manipulate stem cell-based embryo models to investigate cell fate transitions and epigenetic processes (e.g., X-chromosome inactivation).
  • Generate, process, and analyze microscopy data and single-cell (multi)omics datasets.
  • Work collaboratively within an international, interdisciplinary team comprising specialists in epigenetics, computational biology, and embryology.
  • Actively engage in career development, scientific publication, grant writing, leadership training, and research presentations.
