Eligibility/Qualification:
- Doctoral degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong research skills with experience in cement, glass, and mineral dissolution investigations.
- Proficiency in surface analysis techniques and synchrotron-based techniques.
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
- Demonstrated track record of scientific publications and activity in the academic community.
Job Description: The selected candidate will work on the Research Council of Finland project Advanced modification and characterization of the mineral residue surface-liquid interface (MINSURF). This project focuses on the development of low-CO2 cements and the utilization of inorganic silicate side streams. The primary research will involve studying the dissolution chemistry of silicate materials and the interaction between organic ligands and silicate surfaces. Responsibilities include conducting multidisciplinary research using state-of-the-art analytical techniques, laboratory work, inorganic material analyses, and developing new experimental setups for glass and mineral dissolution investigations. Collaboration within a diverse research team and publication of research results in leading international scientific journals are integral aspects of this position.

This is a full-time temporary position starting on 1.8.2024 for a duration of 2 years. The salary, based on demand level chart for teaching and research staff of Finnish universities (level 5-6), will range approximately between 3600-4200 € per month before taxes, with additional performance-based components. A trial period of 6 months will be applied.
