Eligibility/Qualification

  • PostDoctoral Researcher:
  • PhD in a relevant field (Algae, Fluid Dynamics, Heat Transfer)
  • Proven research track record with journal publications
  • Researcher:
  • Ideally a Master’s degree, but applications from those nearing completion of their Master’s will be considered
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Must be able to relocate and live in Pretoria for the duration of the position

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and optimizing a falling film algae photobioreactor for wastewater treatment.
  • Conducting experimental work, including both laboratory and prototype experiments.
  • Performing heat and mass transfer and fluid dynamics analyses to support experimental results.
  • Potential travel to Tanzania and Loughborough, UK, for research collaboration.
  • Co-authoring research articles for publication in academic journals.
  • Assisting with project administration, including progress report writing and budget control.
  • Supporting other postgraduate students within the research group alongside the supervisor.
