Postdoctoral Researcher – Light-Matter Interaction of 2D Materials, Netherlands

Postdoc Position in Amsterdam, University of Amsterdam - Netherlands

The Advanced Research Center for Nanolithography (ARCNL) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to lead a multidisciplinary research project in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the research institute AMOLF. The project aims to determine the interaction of 2D materials with light, with a wavelength range from extreme ultraviolet (EUV) to infrared (IR) radiation, and has promising applications in the field of nanolithography and photocatalysis.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Light-Matter Interaction of 2D Materials

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Physics, Physical Chemistry, or Materials Science
  • Research experience in a non-Dutch academic environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Independent with good project management skills
  • Background in light-matter interaction, materials characterization, laser spectroscopy, 2D materials, or surface science is considered an advantage

Job Description:

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will lead a collaboration between various research groups and a semiconductor equipment manufacturing company. You will study the fundamental physics behind light-induced modifications to 2D materials and analyze the light-induced changes to the material properties using techniques such as atomic force microscopy, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. You will work with (tunable) femtosecond laser systems and prepare 2D layers and nanostructures for experiments.

How to Apply:

You can apply online by submitting your resume and a motivation letter (maximum 1 page) explaining why you want to join the group.

Last Date for Apply: Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis and the position will be filled as soon as an excellent match is made.
