Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f) – 100%: The University Children’s Hospital Zurich is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on a two-year research project, “Brain age and digital twins as markers of infant neurodevelopment: a machine-learning approach using multinational MRI data.” This project is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation’s Korean-Swiss Science and Technology Programme (KSSTP) grant and is led by Prof. Dr. Andras Jakab at the Center for MR-Research, University Children’s Hospital Zurich. The role involves developing innovative techniques for generating realistic MR images of infants, designing an efficient image segmentation network, creating a machine learning-driven approach for estimating brain age from images, sharing code with collaborators, and more.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in engineering or computer science.
  • Research experience in image analysis utilizing machine learning.
  • Proficient in programming languages, including Python.
  • Experience in image segmentation and generative AI (GAN/stable diffusion) is a plus.
  • Strong scientific presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Team player with exceptional teamwork capabilities.

Job Description: The Postdoctoral Researcher will be responsible for:

  • Working on the research project “Brain age and digital twins as markers of infant neurodevelopment.”
  • Developing techniques for generating realistic MR images of infants.
  • Designing an efficient image segmentation network.
  • Creating a machine learning-driven approach for estimating brain age from images.
  • Sharing code with project collaborators and the research community.
  • Providing guidance and supervision to master’s thesis students and interns.
  • Collaborating with the Principal Investigator to coordinate research tasks.
  • Coordinating data annotation and sharing with the Korean research team.
  • Undertaking visits to the Korean research partner as needed.
