Postdoctoral Researcher – Mechanisms in Glioma: Postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Sam McBrayer at Children’s Medical Center Research Institute (CRI), UT Southwestern. This institution integrates leaders in regenerative medicine, cancer biology, and metabolism. The McBrayer lab focuses on metabolic reprogramming in cancer, specifically studying IDH mutant glioma as a disease model.
Postdoctoral Researcher – Metabolic Vulnerabilities and Tumor Promotion Mechanisms in Glioma
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area:
- Cancer Biology
- Metabolism
- Epigenetics
- Mouse Genetics
- Glioma Pathobiology
- Translational Cancer Research
Location: UT Southwestern Medical Center, 5323 Harry Hines Boulevard, Dallas, Texas, USA
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.
- Strong interest in cancer biology, metabolism, epigenetics, mouse genetics, bioinformatics, or translational cancer research is required.
- Experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, metabolism, epigenetics, or bioinformatics is desirable.
Job Description:
The McBrayer Laboratory investigates metabolic vulnerabilities in IDH mutant glioma using a multidisciplinary approach, combining biochemical assays, isogenic cell models, patient-derived glioma stem-like cell lines, and xenograft models. Additionally, the lab employs mouse genetics and in vivo genetic engineering technologies, including CRISPR/Cas9 and recombinant AAV, to create new glioma models. The research focuses on three main areas:
- Investigating how IDH1 mutations promote glial cell transformation.
- Exploring the connection between amino acid catabolism and nitrogenous metabolite synthesis in glioma cells.
- Developing therapeutic strategies by exploiting metabolic vulnerabilities in IDH-mutant glioma.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates should send the following documents:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Summary of past research experience and future research interests
- Contact details of three references
Applications should be sent to:
