Postdoctoral Researcher -Microbiomes: The Laboratory of Fungal Biology at the Institute of Microbiology (IMIC), Czech Academy of Sciences, is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position (100%) to work on arbuscular mycorrhizal hyphosphere microbiomes. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team working on synthetic microbiomes and interkingdom interactions between mycorrhizal fungi and bacteria.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Holders of a PhD title for less than 5 years
  • Background in microbiology, soil science, or plant sciences
  • Enthusiastic young researcher interested in synthetic microbiomes
  • Team player within a large interdisciplinary project
  • Interest in interkingdom interactions between mycorrhizal fungi and bacteria
  • Fluent in English; understanding Czech is an asset
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated capability of independent publishing of research results

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Researcher – Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Hyphosphere Microbiomes

The postdoctoral researcher will work on arbuscular mycorrhizal hyphosphere microbiomes, contributing to a multidisciplinary project. The research involves synthetic microbiomes and explores interkingdom interactions between mycorrhizal fungi and bacteria. The candidate will have access to well-equipped labs, research glasshouse, growth chambers, and advanced equipment on campus. Long-term employment prospects within a vibrant scientific campus are offered.

We Offer:

  • Gross salary between 60,000 and 69,000 CZK/month (depending on age/career stage/achievements)
  • Institutional support in developing the researcher’s own research agenda
  • 6 weeks (30 days) of holidays per year upon full-time employment

  • Initial contract for 1 year, extendable up to 3 years within current projects
