Postdoctoral Researcher – Nanobiosensors: The Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) is seeking a motivated and qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to join the NanoBiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group. The group focuses on developing innovative nanobiosensor devices, with a particular emphasis on plasmonics, nanoplasmonics, and silicon-based photonics principles. The research aims to integrate surface biofunctionalization, microfluidics, and lab-on-a-chip technology for point-of-care applications, particularly in clinical diagnostics and environmental monitoring.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Life Sciences (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or similar)
- Background in biosensors
- Experience in immunoassay development using biosensors
- Knowledge of genetics and experience in genomics-based assays
- Microfluidics knowledge is advantageous
- Familiarity with experimental optical setups implementation is a plus
- Excellent proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
Job Description: The Postdoctoral Researcher will play a key role in developing a Point of Care (POC) nanophotonic biosensor for multiplexed Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) diagnostics. Responsibilities include designing and engineering a lab-on-a-chip system incorporating novel multiplexed PIC BiMW sensors and innovative polymer microfluidic solutions. The role involves evaluation, nanophotonic chip characterization, microfluidics, and integration of required subsystems.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Build a POC nanophotonic biosensor for multiplexed STI diagnostics
- Design and engineer a lab-on-a-chip system
- Evaluate and characterize nanophotonic chips
- Work on microfluidics and integrate required subsystems
Conditions:
- Full-time work (37.5h/week)
- Contract Length: Temporary (end of the project)
