Postdoctoral Researcher – Observational Learning: The Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Department of Computer Science, is inviting applications for a postdoctoral research position at the Cluster of Excellence “Science of Intelligence.” The research focuses on principles of intelligence shared by artificial and biological entities, with the aim of ethically applying these principles to create intelligent technology. The specific project, “Observational learning in children and artificial agents (P59),” investigates how observed motor behavior, actions, and outcomes are integrated in children and artificial agents.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed academic degree and doctoral degree (PhD) in computer science, robotics, machine learning, or a related field
  • Proven background in cognitive or developmental robotics, computational modeling, and machine learning
  • Strong programming skills (preferably in Python)
  • Experience with VR programming (Unity) is an additional asset
  • Scientific track record
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research and working in a team
  • Excellent English language skills

Job Description:

  • Develop a VR setup interfacing with humans and artificial agents
  • Create computational models for learning artificial agents
  • Integrate findings from human experiments
  • Perform experiments with artificial agents under varying conditions
