Postdoctoral Researcher on Social Inequalities: The University of Lausanne (UNIL) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Institute of Social Sciences. The successful candidate will contribute to the SNSF Starting Grant project “Liberal and radical equality of opportunity (EQUALOPP)” under the direction of Prof. Michael Grätz. The project focuses on developing innovative methods to measure equality of opportunity using survey data from various countries. The position offers a three-year contract with a competitive salary, providing an opportunity to contribute to an exciting research project and live in one of the most beautiful parts of Europe.

Location: University of Lausanne, Géopolis, Lausanne, Switzerland

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in sociology, demography, economics, social policy, or a related discipline.
  • Strong interest and experience in research on social inequalities.
  • Strong skills in quantitative methods and experience in analyzing survey and/or administrative data.
  • Proficient in R and/or Stata.
  • Good research and publication record relative to career stage.
  • Collaborative attitude and interest in teamwork.
  • Fluency in English (working language); familiarity with French is not required.

Job Description: The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Work on single- and co-authored publications related to equality of opportunity.
  • Present preliminary findings at international conferences.
  • Contribute to the intellectual life at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.
  • Collaborate with the LIVES research group and the Swiss Centre of Expertise in the Social Sciences (FORS).
  • No teaching responsibilities associated with the position, but teaching may be arranged if desired.
