Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Microfabrication, Nanofabrication, Biophysics, Synthetic Cells, or Optical Imaging.
  • Experience in experimental research with a strong background in microfluidics.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in conceptual novel research.
  • Candidates with diverse backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply, especially female candidates.

Job Description:

The postdoctoral researcher will utilize the advanced microfabrication facilities of the Kavli Nanolab to develop a lab-on-a-chip platform. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and integrating OLA production of liposomes and trap arrays.
  • Implementing local light/heating modules along with selection and sorting routines.
  • Conducting directed evolution experiments guided by machine learning to optimize synthetic genomes for biological functions such as shape manipulation.
  • Investigating entropic segregation of synthetic genomes by testing long labeled DNA molecules in nanofabricated cavities.

The position is part of the BaSyC and EVOLF consortia, with a commitment to high-level international research.
