Postdoctoral Researcher: Optical Methods: The 3DPV group at NWO-Institute AMOLF seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join a project on operando characterisation inside a novel plasmonic-based photo-reactor, part of the European ReaCtor consortium. This role focuses on enhancing photocatalysis within optical fiber reactors by investigating the effects of plasmonic metal nanoparticles.
Postdoctoral Researcher: Optical Methods for Operando Investigation in Liquid Reactors
Designation:
Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area:
Operando Characterisation in Liquid Reactors, Plasmonics, Photocatalysis, Optical Spectroscopy
Location:
AMOLF, Science Park 104, 1098 XG Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Prior experience in photochemistry, operando spectroscopy, and/or plasmonics.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written English skills.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will investigate the enhancement of photocatalytic processes inside optical fiber reactors using plasmonic metal nanoparticles. The role involves:
- Utilizing scanning probe and spectroscopic techniques (fluorescence and Raman) to monitor chemical reactions in space and time.
- Probing reaction kinetics from single particles to ensembles and determining the ideal plasmonic particle density inside the reactor.
- Collaborating closely with other researchers and partners from the consortium, including participating in symposia, workshops, and mutual visits.
- Contributing to the development of a novel type of light-driven chemical reactor aimed at significantly reducing energy consumption in catalytic processes and scalable deployment.
