Postdoctoral Researcher – Optomechanical Systems: The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Sotomayor Research Group. This role focuses on experimental research within the area of optomechanical systems, contributing to the European Union RIA project “Materials for a next-generation (nano-)opto-electro-mechanical systems” (MAGNIFIC).

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Education: PhD in Condensed Matter Physics, Physical Electronics, or a related field
  • Experience:
  • Postgraduate level research experience in experimental semiconductor laboratory-scale devices, nanophotonics, and/or nanophononics
  • Skills:
  • Familiarity with phononic crystals and optomechanics
  • Hands-on experience with advanced experimental techniques will be highly valued

Job Description:

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Characterize nano-opto-electro-mechanical device-like structures prior to their integration into ICT.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art experimental resources, including near-field fibre probing optomechanics setup, Brillouin Light Scattering, Raman scattering, and laser Doppler vibrometry.
  • Contribute to group dynamics through participation in research and methodology development initiatives.
  • Disseminate research results through publications, conferences/workshops, and contribute to project reports.
  • Plan and conduct experimental methods, analyze data, and publish findings.
  • Share responsibility for equipment maintenance, upgrades, and uphold IT services and safety regulations.
