Postdoctoral Researcher – Pharmaceutical Chemistry: The University of Kansas is hiring two full-time Postdoctoral Research Associates to work in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry under the supervision of Dr. Ming Zhao. The positions involve leveraging synthetic and living biomaterials to develop innovative biopharmaceutical formulations. Candidates with expertise in polymer chemistry, genome editing, vaccine development, and cancer nanomedicine are preferred.

Eligibility/Qualification: Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry or related field

Job Description:

  • 50% – Designing & Executing Experiments: Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to analyze the effectiveness of biopharmaceutical formulations using techniques like immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, ELISA, flow-cytometry, ELISpot assay, or qPCR.
  • 20% – Writing Reports & Papers: Assist in preparing manuscripts for publication, compiling grant submissions, and creating other necessary documentation. Present research results at conferences.
  • 20% – Collaboration with Lab Members: Work with fellow lab members, graduate students, and technicians. Contribute to a collaborative research environment, sharing expertise and achieving research objectives.
  • 10% – Laboratory Management: Establish and follow laboratory quality control and quality assurance policies. Ensure appropriate documentation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of laboratory experience.
  • Quantitative analysis skills, including statistics and data presentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan, multitask, and complete projects.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • PhD in hand at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Molecular biology techniques (CRISPR/Cas9 Genome-editing, molecular cloning, PCR, protein expression and purification, RNA synthesis).
  • Experience in polymer synthesis, biomembrane coating technology, and vaccine effectiveness evaluation in mouse models.
  • Proficiency in mammalian/microbial cell culture and animal models.
  • Project management experience.
  • Development of new standard operating procedures through literature searches.
