Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Atmospheric Science, Planetary Science, Geophysical Science, or a directly related field
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of atmospheric dynamics and thermodynamics to terrestrial planetary atmospheres
- Proficiency in FORTRAN programming language (Linux environment)
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, IDL, or similar applications for data analysis
- Experience with planetary atmosphere modeling codes (e.g., PlanetWRF, MarsRAMS, TitanRAMS, NASA Ames GCM) or similar fluid dynamical codes
- Ability to debug, test, and implement new physics in model code
- Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and parallel coding libraries MPI/MPICH (helpful)
Job Description: As a Postdoctoral Researcher, your responsibilities include:
- Configuring, initializing, running, and analyzing atmospheric numerical models of Earth, Mars, Titan, and other terrestrial planetary atmospheres
- Evaluating model results for physical consistency and plausibility, identifying noteworthy results, and placing them in the context of prior investigations
- Analyzing observational data sets to validate and verify model results, identify deficiencies, and pinpoint phenomena for numerical model investigation
- Presenting research results at professional meetings and conferences
- Submitting manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals
- Participating and contributing to Planetary Atmosphere group meetings
