This role is part of the TRR 341—a Collaborative Research Centre funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The interdisciplinary project aims to combine species distribution models and quantitative genetics to better understand the adaptive potential of plants to changing global environments and to support the preservation of plant biodiversity.

Eligibility & Qualifications

The successful candidate must possess the following:

  • Education: A PhD in a relevant field (e.g., computational biology, evolutionary genetics, plant ecology).
  • Background: An ideal foundation in population genetics, quantitative genetics, computational biology, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Knowledge Base: Good basic knowledge of species distribution modelling and evolutionary biology.
  • Technical Skills: Strong computational skills, including proficiency in languages such as Bash, R, or Python.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

Job Description (Your Tasks)

  • Integrate species distribution models with quantitative genetics to analyze how plants adapt to shifting environmental conditions.
  • Engage with evolutionary questions and advance dedicated plant research within a massive collaborative network.
  • Collaborate across an interdisciplinary team combining plant molecular biology, evolutionary and quantitative genetics, and ecology.
  • Participate in regular meetings and exchanges across the TRR 341 community (which spans 9 different research institutions).
