Eligibility/Qualification
- Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, bioengineering, or a closely related field.
- Recent Ph.D. graduates preferred (within two years of degree conferment).
- Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications, with a focus on first-author manuscripts or pre-prints.
- Experience with protein engineering techniques, including directed evolution and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing.
- Proficiency in fluorescence microscopy, live-cell imaging, or bioluminescent assays.
- Advantageous skills in bioinformatics or computational biology.
- Interest in developing new methodologies and contributing to resource sharing within the scientific community.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to collaborative research.
Job Description
The successful candidate will lead projects on the design, validation, and optimization of sensors tailored to marine organisms. They will contribute significantly to interdisciplinary research goals within the ADC-NiCE, collaborating closely with marine biologists, neuroscientists, and engineers to address fundamental questions concerning organismal resilience to rapidly changing ecosystems.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should email Dr. Nathan Shaner at ncshaner@health.ucsd.edu with the following documents compiled into a single PDF:
- A cover letter detailing previous research experiences and interests.
- A current curriculum vitae, including a full list of publications.
- A brief statement (less than one page) outlining potential research projects aligning with ADC-NiCE objectives and career aspirations.
- Contact information for three professional references.
Note: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
