Postdoctoral Researcher- Social Sciences: The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Jyväskylä is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for a fixed-term period from 2.1.2024 to 31.12.2026 (or as agreed). This position, located within the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy, is dedicated to the profiling area of planetary well-being and sustainability transitions. The research focus encompasses sustainability transitions and the transformation of well-being thinking and policies to support societal transformations and justice.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. degree in social sciences or philosophy (other suitable academic backgrounds considered)
  • Strong command of empirical social scientific research
  • Familiarity with sustainability transition studies
  • Capacity for independent and collaborative research
  • Interdisciplinary experience (highly valued)
  • Evidence of professional engagement and/or teaching (an asset)

Job Description: As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will engage in social scientific research within ongoing/starting projects on sustainability transitions and just and sustainable well-being at the University of Jyväskylä. Your research is expected to align with one or more of the following research themes:

  1. Just sustainability transitions in food systems
  2. Planetary well-being and sustainability transitions
  3. Cohabitability and the ethical sustainability of land use

In addition to research, you will contribute to the development and content production for sustainability transitions-related teaching. The primary location for teaching activities and collaborative research is Jyväskylä.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct research at a high international level, with a strong command of English being required for this position.
