Postdoctoral Researcher – Thermal Sensors,ICFO, Spain

Postdoctoral Researcher – Thermal Sensors: ICFO is seeking a well-qualified, highly motivated, and dynamic young scientist to join the Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials group led by Prof. Dr. Gerasimos Konstantatos. This group is developing groundbreaking CMOS-compatible thermal sensor and microbolometer technology, aimed at revolutionizing thermal imaging for automotive, safety, and surveillance applications.

Postdoctoral Researcher – CMOS-Compatible Thermal Sensors and Microbolometer Technology

Designation:
Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area:
Thermal Sensors, Microbolometer Technology, Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials

Location:
ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Castelldefels, Spain

Eligibility/Qualification:
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. (or show evidence of near completion) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field by the time of contract initiation. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in:

  • Fabrication, characterization, and modeling of thermal detectors, particularly microbolometers
  • Thermal, thermoelectric, and electronic simulations using TCAD software
  • Cleanroom microfabrication of thermal sensing structures
  • Optoelectronic characterization (electronic transport, responsivity, noise, response speed)
  • Knowledge of read-out circuitry schemes for bolometers and photonic structure design in the LWIR for thermal sensing is a plus

Job Description:
The successful candidate will:

  • Work on developing advanced thermal sensor and microbolometer technology for various high-impact applications
  • Conduct hands-on fabrication, modeling, and characterization of thermal detectors
  • Collaborate on the development of new electronic and optical modeling techniques for thermal imaging systems
  • Engage in cutting-edge research aimed at advancing CMOS-compatible thermal sensing technologies

How to Apply:
Applicants are required to submit:

  • A presentation letter with a declaration of interest
  • A detailed Curriculum Vitae, including contact details
  • Contact information for two referees

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the position will remain open until filled. Candidates should send inquiries to jobs@icfo.eu and may also contact gerasimos.konstantatos@icfo.eu for scientific queries.

Last Date to Apply:
Open until the position is filled.
