About the Wilkinson Group
The Wilkinson Group at John Innes Centre focuses on the discovery, biosynthesis, and biosynthetic engineering of microbial natural products, especially anti-infective molecules. This role involves collaboration with the Hutchings lab on a project related to antibiotic pathways in actinomycete bacteria.
Role Description
The Postdoctoral Researcher will work on unlocking the biosynthesis of Streptomyces bacterial natural products. The focus is on utilizing genetic methods for producing the estimated 90% of SMs that are genome encoded but not produced under laboratory conditions.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Chemical Biology, expertise in bacterial natural products chemistry and biology, and a proven ability to perform research in natural products chemical biology. Experience in protein biochemistry is beneficial, and skills in bioinformatics and scientific writing are highly desirable.
