Postdoctoral Researchers – Ecology: Join Dr. Chi Chen’s research group at the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in ecology, geoscience, environmental science, or related field.
  • Background in quantitative remote sensing, plant physiology, photosynthesis modeling, and relevant skills in scientific programming.
  • Proficiency in high-performance computing in Unix-based operating systems.

Job Description:

  1. Position 1: “Embracing the 3D Era”
    • Project Title: Exploring Vertical Acclimation of Vegetation Canopy Structure and Photosynthetic Activities through GEDI Data (NASA-funded).

    • Description: Lead research on modeling vegetation photosynthetic activities using space-borne LiDAR data. Tasks include developing remote sensing products, upscaling leaf-level processes, and investigating seasonal and vertical structural changes in vegetation. The role involves utilizing data from NASA’s GEDI mission.
  2. Position 2: Flexible Research Direction
    • Project Title: Flexible research direction, candidates can define their focus.
    • Expected Start Date: Negotiable, can start at any time.
    • Description: Motivated researchers with interests aligned with the lab can define their research focus. Preferred directions include analysis of land use and climate change impacts, land surface modeling, and optimization theories for vegetation processes.
