Postdoctoral Researchers in Analysis: The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the Faculty of Science, University of Helsinki, is inviting applications for 1-2 postdoctoral researcher positions in the fields of analysis, dynamics, partial differential equations (PDEs), random models, and quantum chaos. The selected researchers will work on challenging research problems, including topics related to quantum chaos and spectral statistics.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A doctoral degree in mathematics or physics with a strong background in pure mathematics.
  • Preferred background in areas such as fractal geometry, representation theory, random graphs or matrices, mathematical physics, hyperbolic dynamics, harmonic analysis, semiclassical analysis, additive combinatorics, analytic number theory, or PDEs.
  • Interest and curiosity to expand research profile into the mentioned areas.

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Researchers in Analysis, Dynamics, and/or Quantum Chaos

Postdoctoral researchers will engage in research activities with a minor teaching obligation. The research focuses on various topics in pure mathematics, quantum chaos, and spectral statistics. This opportunity allows for interdisciplinary collaboration and networking with internationally recognized research groups at the University of Helsinki.

What We Offer:

  • Salary based on the Finnish universities’ salary system (level 5 of the demands level chart), with an additional salary component based on personal performance.
  • Starting salary of approximately 3654-3906 euros/month, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • 1-2 year contract starting no later than September 1, 2024, with a six-month trial period.
