Eligibility/Qualification:

  • DVM and PhD in immunology, molecular biology, virology, or related fields.
  • Experience working with pigs and conducting relevant studies.
  • Proficiency in molecular and virological laboratory techniques.
  • Skills in primary cell isolation, cell culture, immunological assays, and RT-qPCR.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will lead the “PreProPRRSV” project, focusing on predicting vaccine efficacy and preventing PRRSV outbreaks. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting pig trials and developing an immune biobank.
  • Establishing laboratory techniques and performing T-cell restimulation assays.
  • Engaging in advanced immune and viral studies and farm extension activities.
  • Collaborating with the Machado lab and the pig industry for sample collection and feedback.
  • Writing and editing scientific manuscripts and articles.
  • Providing educational guidance to students.
