Eligibility/Qualification:
- Basic Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent international degree, or currently enrolled in a PhD or equivalent international degree granting program at the time of application.
- Additional Qualifications (required at the time of start):
- PhD or equivalent international degree.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated record of publications in relevant computer science venues (NLP and machine learning conferences, general interest journals).
Job Description:
The Pierson Lab is affiliated with several prestigious research entities, including the Berkeley AI Research Lab, Computational Precision Health, and the Center for Human-Compatible AI. The selected candidate will work on two major projects:
- Using Language Models for Scientific Discovery:
Develop sparse autoencoder methods for hypothesis generation with a focus on collaboration with clinicians and social scientists. - Using Language Models to Improve Equity:
Create language models designed to democratize access to reliable health information.
The position offers a chance to collaborate closely with PI Emma Pierson and other postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.
