Postdoctoral Scholar Positions in Kim Lab, UC Davis, California, USA

Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position at USA, Ozbolat Laboratory at Penn State

Postdoctoral Scholar Positions in Kim Lab: The Kim Lab at UC Davis is seeking highly motivated individuals for Postdoctoral Scholar positions in the areas of Protein Engineering and Proteomics/Biochemistry. The positions offer exciting research opportunities to develop molecular technologies for studying neural circuits implicated in neuropsychiatric disorders. The successful candidates will have the chance to work on funded projects and gain independence in designing and executing their own research.

Designation: Postdoctoral Scholars (or Assistant Project Scientists, commensurate with experience)

Research Area: Bio/chemical engineering, chemical biology, or related fields

Location: UC Davis, Davis/Sacramento area, California

Eligibility/Qualification:

Protein Engineering Candidate:

  • Doctoral degree in bio/chemical engineering, chemical biology, or related fields.
  • Previous experience with high-throughput protein engineering assays (or computational design).

Proteomics/Biochemistry Candidate:

  • Doctoral degree in biochemistry, chemistry, biology, or related fields.
  • Prior experience with proteomic analysis and related molecular assays.

Note: Prior mouse experience is necessary for either position, but we can provide training if needed.

Job Description:

The selected candidates will work on the following projects based on their respective positions:

Protein Engineering Position: The candidate will be involved in projects focused on developing high-throughput screening assays and engineering new activity-dependent labeling enzymes and transcriptional reporters. Collaboration and cross-training opportunities will be available to validate and apply these tools in mice, along with other approaches such as calcium imaging, optogenetics, single-cell RNA sequencing, or proteomics.

Proteomics/Biochemistry Position: The candidate will contribute to projects aimed at developing and applying novel activity-dependent proximity labeling enzymes for proteomic analysis of specific neuronal populations activated in vivo under different behavioral conditions. The candidate will also have the option to integrate proteomics data with other molecular assays, including single-cell RNA sequencing or spatial transcriptomics.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates are requested to submit the following documents:

  • A short cover letter (including contact information for 1-2 references)

Please send your application materials to [email protected]

Last Date for Apply: Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. Please apply at the earliest opportunity.

ABOUT THE DAVIS/SACRAMENTO AREA: Most people live either in Davis (easy biking to campus/the Center) or in Sacramento (20 min drive).

  • Sacramento International Airport is nearby, and housing in the area is among the most affordable in CA.
  • The location offers a convenient access to various exciting activities within a 1-2 hour drive/train ride. There are nearby lakes and rivers for kayaking and wakeboarding. The Pacific coast provides an amazing beach for surfing, while Lake Tahoe offers world-class climbing and skiing. Oakland/San Francisco is an easy evening trip if you enjoy city life.
