Postdoctoral Scholar – Research Associat: The University of Southern California (USC) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join Prof. Karmel S. Shehadeh’s research group at the Viterbi School of Engineering. This role focuses on conducting innovative research in stochastic optimization and fairness in optimization, contributing to various application domains.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Candidates should have or be close to completing a doctorate degree in industrial engineering, operations research, statistics, or machine learning.
- A strong research record with previous publications in optimization under uncertainty methodologies.
- Experience in one (or both) of the following areas is preferred:
- Stochastic and distributionally robust optimization and their applications
- Fairness in optimization and/or machine learning
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills are essential.
Job Description:
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be expected to contribute to:
- Developing next-generation data-driven stochastic and distributionally robust optimization methodologies.
- Creating advanced fairness-promoting stochastic optimization frameworks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a research team in writing manuscripts and disseminating findings at scientific meetings.
- Preparing grant applications.
- Supporting the supervision of doctoral students.
Additional Information:
This is a hybrid position, requiring onsite work at least 2 days per week. The position is fixed-term for one year, with potential extensions based on performance and funding.
