Postdoctoral Scholarship in Materials Informatics: The Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA) is inviting applications for a postdoctoral scholarship focusing on the rational design of carbon quantum dots leveraging natural language processing, machine learning, and atomistic modeling.
Designation:
Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area:
Materials Technology
Location:
Praça Marechal Eduardo Gomes, 50 (Chemistry Department) – Vila das Acácias, São José dos Campos, Brazil
Eligibility/Qualification:
- A Ph.D. in Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields.
- Strong background in natural language processing, machine learning, and atomistic modeling.
- Experience in working with carbon quantum dots is preferable.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will:
- Utilize natural language processing (NLP) to extract relevant information on synthesis conditions, precursors, post-synthesis treatments, and properties of carbon quantum dots.
- Organize data into structured databases for analysis using machine learning (ML) algorithms.
- Identify correlations between synthesis parameters and properties like quantum yield, light absorption, and photocatalytic activity.
- Propose optimized synthesis routes based on ML findings.
- Validate ML model predictions through atomistic modeling, particularly using density functional theory (DFT) calculations.
- Conduct experimental bench-scale tests on selected correlation scenarios, synthesizing and characterizing carbon quantum dots.
