Location: University of Antwerp, Groenenborgercampus, Antwerp, Belgium
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in bioscience engineering, environmental engineering, technology or science(s), environmental systems analysis, agronomy or agricultural engineering, (bio)chemical engineering, or equivalent applied sciences.
- Demonstrable experience in carrying out life cycle assessments using relevant software (e.g. SimaPro, OpenLCA, Activity Browser).
- Solid working knowledge of emissions from liquid wastes to air, soil, and water.
- Experience with material flow analysis is a plus.
- Expertise in the treatment of or resource recovery from liquid waste streams (e.g. N & P recovery, water reuse).
- Programming and coding experience is a plus (Brightway 2, Python).
- First author of papers published in journals indexed by Web of Science.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration.
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
- Creative, proactive, and independent thinker with attention to quality and integrity.
- Alignment with the faculty and university research policies.
Job Description:
- Conduct sustainability assessments of novel (waste)water and manure treatment and resource recovery technologies.
- Link the assessments to infrastructure and agricultural reuse.
- Use life cycle assessment (LCA) and potentially material flow analysis (MFA).
- Prepare reports and publish scientific articles.
- Participate in national and international conferences, project meetings, and workshops.
- Carry out research support tasks, including proposal writing for funding acquisition.
