The successful candidate will contribute to the project “Atmospheric Impact on the R-Mode Positioning System,” aiming to improve navigation accuracy in the Baltic Sea region. - A PhD in Meteorology, Physics, Geoscience, or a related field
- Interest in numerical modeling on HPC systems
- Proficiency in analyzing large datasets
- Proficiency in English as a working language
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Job Description:
The successful candidate will use the UA-ICON model to simulate upper-atmosphere dynamics in the Baltic Sea region. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting regional high-resolution simulations to study wave dynamics in the D and E layers and validating these with observational data.
- Performing global simulations to examine long-term atmospheric changes, large-scale phenomena, and their influence on ionospheric dynamics.
- Analyzing the effects of solar and geomagnetic activity on atmospheric density and ionospheric chemistry.
- Quantifying the impacts of large-scale circulation changes and atmospheric waves.
