Designation: Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Research Area: Computational Biology, Genomics, Artificial Intelligence

Location: Department of Pathology, Central Cambridge


Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completed PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., physics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, bioinformatics, or computational biology)
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language
  • Experience with AI and/or mathematical modeling in genomics is highly desirable
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team

Job Description:

The successful candidate will develop artificial intelligence models aimed at predicting the presence of DNA secondary structures from Oxford Nanopore sequencing data and mapping them across the human genome. This role is part of a multi-institution, cross-disciplinary team that includes Dr. Gideon Coster (Institute of Cancer Research, London) and Oxford Nanopore Technologies. You will have access to high-performance computing facilities and the support of a vibrant computational biology community.

  • Tenure: Fixed-term until 31 August 2028
  • Funding: Supported by an Industrial Partnership Award from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council
  • Health Assessment: Required post-employment offer
