Research Area
- Battery Research with a focus on:
- Characterization of Li-ion batteries and their components using neutron diffraction, X-ray diffraction, and neutron depth profile analysis.
- Investigations of lithium solid electrolyte interfaces.
- Studies of surfaces of Li metal electrodes, SEI formation, interfaces of solid electrolytes, and polymer electrolytes.
Location
- Garching near Munich, Germany
Eligibility/Qualification
- Completed a degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Crystallography.
- Good knowledge of German and English.
- Experience in project management.
- Doctorate degree.
- Knowledge of diffraction with Rietveld analysis (preferably with neutrons) or small-angle scattering.
- Understanding of electrochemistry of batteries.
- Committed, independent working style with reliability and flexibility.
- Team player with a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research.
Job Description
- Utilize advanced analysis methods such as neutron diffraction and X-ray diffraction.
- Engage in a German-American research project focused on lithium solid electrolyte interfaces.
- Collaborate with leading German and American institutes including FZ JĂĽlich, KIT, JLU Giessen, Stanford University, and several national laboratories.
- Participate in an interdisciplinary team investigating Li-ion battery components.
- Access to TUM’s laboratory facilities for further battery characterization.
