Postdoctoral Studies in Phage Biology: The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to join the Systems Virology research group. This research group is led by Andrea Fossati as part of the larger group of Gerald Mc Inerney. The position involves research in the field of bacterial antiphage systems, focusing on functional characterization of Mycobacterium tuberculosis/Mycobacterium abscessus systems to restrict phage replication. The Postdoctoral Researcher will apply genetic screenings and proteomics approaches to investigate these systems and collaborate with a diverse research community.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A doctorate or equivalent foreign degree.
  • Expertise in forward and reverse genetic screens.

  • Adaptability to an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Additional skills, such as experience with Mycobacteria, phage biology, virology techniques, and proficiency in Python/R, are meritorious.

Postdoctoral Studies in Phage Biology and Mycobacteria Defense Systems (Scholarship)

  • Conduct research in the area of phage biology and bacterial defense systems.
  • Focus on functional characterization of Mycobacterium systems to restrict phage replication.
  • Apply genetic screenings (CRISPRi) to identify bacterial genes influencing phage replication.
  • Utilize interaction proteomics methods for characterizing molecular interactions.
  • Collaborate with research groups and contribute to project design, data analysis, and scientific communication.
