Postdoctoral Researcher in Evolutionary Theory: A postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated researcher to work on the evolution of endosymbiosis, developing theoretical insights based on experimental work in Lutz Becks’ group and contributing to the design of future experiments. The project is a collaboration between University of Konstanz, University of Münster, and University of Würzburg.
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Evolutionary Theory, Mathematical Modeling, Theoretical Biology
Location: University of Konstanz, Germany
Eligibility/Qualification: PhD in Evolutionary Theory, Mathematical Modeling or Theoretical Biology.
Candidates with previous work in the context of evolutionary transitions, the evolution of symbioses or species interactions will be preferred. The candidate should demonstrate an enthusiasm for basic research and an interest in mechanistic and phenomenological modeling. The successful candidate should be able to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of disciplines.
Job Description: The successful candidate will work on the evolution of endosymbiosis, studying the evolutionary process and ecological conditions favoring the evolution of endosymbiosis. The project aims to develop theoretical insights based on observations from experimental work in Lutz Becks’ group and to contribute to the design of future experiments. The candidate will be expected to travel to Würzburg/Münster for research visits. The collaborative research environment in the group is highly integrative, very international and conducted in English.
The candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting research on the evolution of endosymbiosis
- Developing theoretical insights based on observations from experimental work
- Contributing to the design of future experiments
- Communicating effectively with people from a wide range of disciplines
How to Apply: Interested candidates should send a CV, a short cover letter highlighting interests and potential research questions, and contact details of two professional referees to lutz.becks@uni-konstanz.de.
Last Date for Apply: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
