PhD Position in Biodiversity: The Institute of Entomology, part of the Department of Biodiversity and Conservation Biology, is offering a PhD position in Biodiversity of European woodlands. This role involves conducting research on the impact of disturbances related to climate change and globalization on European forests’ biota. The research is multi-taxa, focusing on insects, and aims to enhance biodiversity in protected and unprotected landscapes.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Min. education level: Master’s degree in Biology or related fields (awarded prior to the starting date).
  • Skills: Willingness to learn, teamwork, passion for fieldwork and/or insects, basic statistical analysis, good English communication skills, and a B driving license.

Job Description:

PhD Position in Biodiversity of European Woodlands

  • Conduct research on the impact of disturbances connected to climate change, globalization, and management changes on European forests.
  • Employ a multi-taxa approach with a focus on insects.
  • Participate in fieldwork, data analysis, and paper writing.
  • Receive training in woodland ecology, conservation, community ecology, and statistical modeling.
  • Enroll in a 4-year PhD program at the University of South Bohemia.
  • Collaborate with an international research team.
