Predoctoral Research Position (4 Years) – Translational Chemical Biology: The Translational Chemical Biology Group at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) invites applications for a fully funded predoctoral (PhD) position. This opportunity is part of a National Plan–funded research project and offers training at the interface of chemistry, chemical biology, and translational science under the supervision of Dr. Gonçalo Bernardes. Eligibility / Qualification

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemistry, Biomedicine, Immunology, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university
  • Strong background in Chemistry (highly valued)
  • Minimum one year of research experience in chemistry, chemical biology, or related fields
  • Demonstrated experience in synthetic chemistry
  • Experience in peptide or protein synthesis is preferred
  • Proven experience with drug testing assays and enzymatic assays
  • Experience in cell biology and cell culture techniques is desirable but not mandatory
  • Scientific publications will be considered an asset
  • Fluent English (C1 level or equivalent) is required

Job Description

The selected candidate will:

  • Conduct cutting-edge research at the interface of chemistry, chemical biology, and translational science
  • Design and perform synthetic chemistry experiments relevant to drug discovery
  • Develop and apply biochemical and enzymatic assays
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary research projects within the National Plan framework
  • Analyze data, prepare reports, and contribute to scientific publications
  • Collaborate with researchers in a highly international and translational research environment
