Eligibility/Qualification:
- Completed doctorate/PhD degree in computer science, statistics, data science, natural language processing, or a related field.
- Excellent methodological knowledge of analyzing large text datasets.
- Strong understanding of modern machine learning methods.
- Proficient programming skills in Python or R.
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
- Successful publication record in international scientific journals.
- Independent and goal-oriented working style.
- (Desirable) Experience with the use of large language models (LLMs), analyzing networks/graphs, collaborating with scientists from different disciplines, and managing scientific projects.
Job Description:
- Curate a dataset of societal actors in Europe from various data sources such as media and company reports.
- Extract interaction networks of societal actors from unstructured text data.
- Develop and validate a multilingual machine learning model tailored for classifying populist language from textual data.
- Collaborate closely with researchers from economic and social sciences to explore the correlation between populist social actors and access to common goods, including press freedom, education, and public infrastructure.
- Publish research findings in international scientific journals and present results at international conferences.
- Actively contribute to the Complex Social & Computational Systems working group led by Prof. Lasser.
