Proteomics Data Scientist: We are seeking an exceptional individual to join us as a Proteomics Data Scientist within our Mass Spectrometry Facility. This fixed-term appointment until 31 March 2029 offers a unique opportunity to perform data and statistical analysis for proteomic studies using mass spectrometry data. As part of our team, you will contribute significantly to the success of the MRC PPU mass spectrometry facility.

Job Description:
The selected candidate will be responsible for performing data analysis on mass spectrometry data of proteomics samples using various search engine platforms such as Dia-NN, Spectronaut, MaxQuant, and Proteome Discoverer. Statistical analysis of the data analysis results will be conducted using either in-house developed scripts or the candidate’s own developed scripts, including batch correction, normalization, and differential analysis. Additionally, the candidate will advise and explain the data analysis and statistical analysis process to users, work collaboratively, assist with training PhD students and other lab members, and contribute to research preparation for publication.

Who we’re looking for:
We seek candidates with a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or related discipline, with an outstanding academic track record and a publication record in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest and background in data analysis and the ability to analyze large study cohorts. Proficiency in coding languages including Python, R, and Matlab is required. The ideal candidate should have a strong ability to work independently and in a team, with an open and collaborative approach to science.
